As one of the most misunderstood areas in construction, properly installed claddings are essential to prevent water damage. With the increased popularity of craftsman style homes, new challenges are often introduced on exteriors. This class illustrates a long list of common code violations and defects with siding and flashing and the impact they can have on a house over time. Proper installation and detailing procedures for common siding types will be explained and illustrated so you can take proactive measures with your subcontractors.

Instructor John Battaglia is the owner of At Ease Home Inspections, specializing in multi-phase new construction inspections. Having grown up in the building industry, John comes from a family of GC's, plumbers, electricians, and utility contractors (yes, it is a big family). Inspecting hundreds of houses each year around the Atlanta area has given John a unique perspective on common building defects and the desire to help builders avoid unnecessary warranty claims.
