About us

In 1973, PDI was founded by Glad Mealor and Ronald Pratt in Lawrenceville, GA, with just four employees, including Glad’s son, Sid. They operated out of a 3,000 sq ft warehouse and focused only on plumbing products. Over the last 47 years, PDI has grown from its humble beginnings into a large wholesale distribution company that employs over 280 employees in three states. In the mid-1980’s, with the addition of their first Kitchen & Bath Showroom, PDI transitioned from solely a plumbing distributor into the retail showroom business. Through the 1980’s and 1990’s, PDI experienced incredible growth and expanded their presence in Georgia. Lighting was added to the product mix in 2001 and has proven to be a natural complement to the plumbing business. By the end of 2010, PDI operated six branches and five showrooms across the state. In the mid-2010’s, with its success in the Georgia market and increasing business in adjoining states, PDI expanded into Tennessee and South Carolina. In 2016, PDI partnered with Kohler and opened the Southeast’s first Kohler Signature Store in Atlanta. Following that successful venture, PDI opened a second Kohler Signature Store location in Alpharetta, GA, in 2018. As a company, PDI operates ten branches, five PDI Kitchen, Bath & Lighting Showrooms, and two Kohler Signature Stores, in three states. PDI proudly remains independent and family-owned. The company was founded on solid principles- honesty, integrity, hard work, and respect for others. That is how the founders lived their lives and we carry on those qualities to this day- not only with our customers but with our employees and suppliers as well.

Updates

  • Maximizing space, fostering family harmony, and maintaining connectivity to the heart of the home pose exciting challenges, especially with the increasing trend of remote work. As approximately 12% of full-time employees continue to work from home, the evolution of kitchen design in 2024 and beyond is poised to meet these demands head-on. 1. Workstations: With more people working remotely, kitchens are being designed to accommodate workstations. This includes dedicated areas with built-in desks, charging stations, and ample storage for office supplies, allowing individuals to work efficiently while still being connected to the hub of the home. 2. Integrated Technology: Kitchens are becoming more technologically advanced, with features like smart appliances, integrated speakers, and touchscreen displays. This allows for seamless integration of work and leisure activities, such as streaming recipes, attending virtual meetings, or listening to music while cooking. 3. Flexible Seating: Islands and peninsulas are being designed with multifunctional seating options, such as bar stools or banquettes, creating spaces for both casual dining and homework sessions. This versatility allows the kitchen to adapt to various activities throughout the day. 4. Kids' Zones: Designating a corner of the kitchen as a kids' zone allows children to do homework or engage in creative activities while still being supervised by parents. This can include a small desk or table, storage for art supplies, and a bulletin board or chalkboard for notes and reminders. 5. Multipurpose Appliances: To maximize space and functionality, homeowners are opting for multipurpose appliances that can perform multiple functions. This includes combination ovens, refrigerator drawers, and compact dishwashers, allowing for greater versatility in how the kitchen is used. Overall, the trend towards utilizing kitchens as multifunctional spaces reflects the evolving needs and lifestyles of modern families, where the kitchen serves as the heart of the home for a variety of activities beyond just cooking.

  • Your Augusta neighbors at the W.A. Bragg Evans Branch want to wish everyone a relaxing Masters weekend. This month, we had one of our most well-attended vendor days. It was a gorgeous day to catch up with some of our favorite customers, representatives, and employees in the East Georgia market. We are excited about the next event at our W.A. Bragg Evans Branch. We thank all our sponsors: Barclay Products Limited, STATE WATER HEATERS, Pasco, United Sales Agency, Pulley & Associates, and Navien, Inc.
